Frequently Asked Questions
Availability, reservations & bookings
Can we place an option on a date? And how long will this date be held for us?
As soon as we receive a new inquiry from a couple and the initial appointment and tour have taken place, we can place a reservation on the couple's preferred date. This reservation remains valid for three weeks.
If we receive a new request for the same date in the meantime, we will contact the couple who already have the date on option to discuss whether they wish to confirm the date definitively or let the option expire.
What happens after we want to set a date?
After the initial tour and introduction, you will receive a no-obligation quote from us, fully tailored to your wishes. Are you enthusiastic and do you want to definitively book the date? Then you sign the quote and we will send the invoice for the first deposit. From that moment on, your wedding date is officially reserved.
Then the real anticipation begins. Our wedding team schedules various meetings with the couple to shape your wedding step by step. We discuss the schedule, the day's itinerary, the venues, the styling, the dinner, and all other details important for your wedding. The number of meetings required depends on your wishes and the day's schedule. These meetings are, of course, free of charge and included in our service.
One day before the wedding, we will have a phone call to finalize the last details. We will also discuss whether parts of the day will take place indoors or outdoors, depending on the weather and your schedule.
In addition, we invite you to our inspiration evening, during which Bovendonk will be fully decorated in a wedding theme and various partners will be present. We are also organizing a tasting dinner, where couples getting married with us that year can sample the food court dinner and a number of other dishes.
This way, we look forward to your big day together and ensure that you can relax and enjoy everything to come.
Can we also get married at Bovendonk on a weekday?
Yes, that is possible. In consultation, we will look together for a suitable date that aligns well with your wishes and the availability of Bovendonk.
Can we still come by the location before the wedding?
Yes, that is certainly possible. In the run-up to your wedding, we schedule several meetings to go through the schedule and all the details of the day together. Additionally, extra site visits are also possible.
You are welcome to visit as often as you like, but always in consultation and subject to our availability. Please send us an email in advance, and we will be happy to check with you whether a visit at the desired time is possible.
Can the quote still be adjusted after we have definitively booked our wedding?
Yes, that is possible. Before you sign the quotation, we will of course put it together as carefully as possible based on your wishes, so that the day's itinerary aligns well with your plans.
Even after your wedding has been definitively booked, adjustments can still be made. For example, adding a lunch moment, changing the number of guests, or other practical changes. We always discuss major changes together so that we can see what is possible within the schedule, availability, and setup of your wedding.
How does the payment process work at Bovendonk? Do we have to pay everything at once?
No, you do not have to pay everything at once. The payment process takes place in three installments.
Upon receipt of the signed confirmation, we request an initial deposit of 20% of the total amount. One month before the wedding, we would like to receive 70% of the amount. The remaining 10%, together with any additional costs or changes, will be invoiced after the wedding.
Do you have a minimum spending?
Yes, we work with a minimum spend. The amount varies by date and can be found on our website under the heading 'Availability'. For the available dates, the applicable minimum spend is indicated for each day.
When do we need to provide the final number of guests?
We would like to receive the final number of guests one week before the wedding.
Ceremony & wedding on location
Is Bovendonk an official wedding venue?
Yes, Bovendonk is an official wedding venue of the municipality of Halderberge.
Are we allowed to get married in the chapel if we are not having a church wedding?
Yes, that is possible. The Chapel of Bovendonk has been consecrated, which means that it is no longer used as an official church space. As a result, you can also get married here without a church wedding.
How many indoor spaces are available for the ceremony?
We have three different indoor spaces available for the ceremony. Which space suits you best depends on your style, wishes, and the number of guests.
Can we also get married outside at Bovendonk?
Yes, that is certainly possible. Our atmospheric courtyard provides a beautiful backdrop for your wedding and can be used for the ceremony, toast, and dinner.
When do we need to decide whether the wedding takes place indoors or outdoors?
Because the weather in the Netherlands can sometimes be changeable, we do not decide this too far in advance. One day before the wedding, we discuss the weather forecast together and determine whether the ceremony and other parts of your wedding will take place indoors or outdoors.
This way, we can make the best choice at the last minute and ensure that everything is well prepared, regardless of the weather.
Can we get dressed at Bovendonk?
Yes, that is possible. Bovendonk has a room where you can get ready quietly in the morning and where personal belongings can be stored during the day.
Would you like to prepare separately? Then we can look at the possibilities, for example by using the bridal suite. There are also various atmospheric spots on location for a first look.
How is the music played during the ceremony?
The music during the ceremony can be played via our sound facilities. A Bluetooth sound system is available in the chapel. A Bluetooth speaker can be used in the courtyard and other rooms.
During the ceremony, we ask your master of ceremonies to start and operate the music. This way, the chosen songs can be played at exactly the right moment.
Is live music, such as a singer or musician, possible during the ceremony?
Yes, that is certainly possible
Spaces & Exclusivity
Are there other weddings or events on the same day?
No, we never organize two weddings on the same day. Your wedding receives all the attention it deserves with us.
It is possible that business groups or other events may be present at Bovendonk on the same day. Naturally, we always ensure that you, as the bridal couple, are not inconvenienced by this. During the ceremony, the chosen ceremony room is reserved entirely for you and your guests.
Can day guests and evening guests be received at different times?
Yes, that is certainly possible. Within our package, we distinguish between day guests and evening guests. Day guests are present all day, from 13:00 to 01:00. Evening guests join later, from 20:00 to 01:00.
Would you also like to invite additional guests for, for example, just the toast, the ceremony, or another part of the day? That is also possible. We would be happy to look into a suitable arrangement with you and provide a customized quote.
Are you allowed to organize a party in the chapel?
Yes, that is possible. Depending on your wishes and the number of guests, the chapel can also be used for the evening party.
Together, we will look at which space best suits the concept of your wedding. In doing so, we take into account the number of guests, the desired atmosphere, and the practical possibilities of the location.
Bad weather scenario
Because wedding venue Bovendonk has multiple rooms, there is always a bad weather scenario.
Daily schedule & personal guidance
Do we have a dedicated contact person who guides us toward the wedding?
Yes, you will be guided by the Bovendonk wedding team, consisting of Nienke and Lotte. They are your dedicated points of contact in the run-up to the wedding and are happy to help you plan the details of your day.
Nienke and Lotte take care of, among other things, the initial tour, prepare the quotation, and schedule the timeline meetings with you. They will also be present at the wedding itself to ensure that everything runs as discussed.
This way, you have familiar faces to fall back on throughout the entire process.
Can we fill in the day's timeline ourselves, or do you work with a fixed schedule?
Yes, you can fill in the day's timeline yourselves. Within our festival package, we work with a basic schedule, but this is flexible and can be adjusted at various points.
During the schedule meetings, you and our wedding team will look at the layout that best suits your wishes. This ensures that the day flows naturally and perfectly aligns with how you envision your wedding.
What time should we arrive at Bovendonk for the wedding?
On the wedding day itself, you as the bridal couple are welcome at Bovendonk from 7:00 AM. It is therefore possible to get ready with us at your leisure in the morning for the big day.
We do not charge any extra costs for the use of the room in the morning. Any drinks you consume and any lunch will be charged separately.
.
Do you welcome and guide our guests to the various rooms?
During the wedding, as the venue and wedding team, we ensure that everything runs smoothly in the background. This includes setting up the spaces, providing service, and serving your guests.
Practical tasks such as gathering guests, checking that everyone is present, and guiding guests to the next room at the right moment are usually the responsibility of the master of ceremonies. Naturally, we will discuss this in detail with you beforehand so that everyone knows exactly what is expected.
Our wedding team is happy to brainstorm with you on this and will assist where possible on the day itself to ensure everything runs smoothly.
Who coordinates the setup and dismantling with our suppliers?
You will coordinate the content with your external suppliers yourselves. Think of things such as flowers, styling, the wedding cake, music, or other personal elements of your wedding.
Prior to the wedding, we, as the wedding team, contact the suppliers to coordinate practical matters regarding setup and teardown. This ensures clarity regarding when suppliers can be present and that everything runs smoothly on the day itself.
Can we deliver items a day earlier?
That depends on Bovendonk's availability. If a space is free and available at that time, it is possible to deliver items a day earlier in consultation. This is often possible.
Unfortunately, this is not possible if the location or the desired space is in use at that time. We therefore always coordinate this with you in advance, so that it is clear when items can be delivered.

You therefore need to supply your own wedding cake.
